Swansea Total Fitness Senior Fitness Competition Results

The winners were as follows:

55 - 64 age group
Women’s winner - Sue Gibeau
Men’s winner - Dave Rose

65 - 74 age group
Women’s winner - Nancy Czepiel
There were no men competitors in this age group

75 - 84 age group
Men’s winner - Joe Werbicki
There were no women competitors in this age group

Participants were required to complete 3 sets of 10 repetitions on 6 to 8 machines of their choice. Points were awarded based on the applied weight for each exercise. The person in each age group with the highest total points was declared the winner.

Joe Webicki hopes that based on the success of this initial competition that members of the other clubs will take up the challenge. He also mentioned the possibility of making this an annual event.

Mix It Up with Dawn Casella

Break out of the monotony of the circuit by using TRX, cable weights, free weights, gliders and bands. Dawn will motivate, keep you focused and accountable. The support and camaraderie from participants will keep you on track toward your fitness goals. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

Spring Fat Loss Fit Camp with Dave Parker

Join Dave for this 8-week program that will help you gain strength and lose body fat. Group training circuit workouts will include a variety of equipment such as: free weights, kettlebells, medicine balls and more. Personal nutritional coaching with weigh-ins and body fat testing at the beginning and end to measure strength as well as endurance gains. Dave will encourage you to push yourself! TRX Suspension Training with Adriana Ferns

Break out from your old routine and join Adriana for this 8-week program. TRX is a form of suspension training used to perform total body workouts with exercises that engage your core, while using your own bodyweight for resistance. Adriana will use TRX to take your resistance training to a new level through functional and dynamic movements, perfect for any age and any fitness level. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

Tuff Conditioning with Adriana Ferns

This 8-week program is designed to prepare participants for obstacle races. Adriana's workouts will consist of running with body weight exercises including plyometrics, agility and basic strength. Do you enjoy intense workouts, the camaraderie of group training or are you trying to get off a plateau? This is the workout for you! All ages and fitness levels welcome. (min. 3 max. 10 participants)

Evolution Nutrition Bootcamp with Carrie Gippo

This 4-week boot camp is a nutrition educational program designed to help participants achieve their personal health goals. Carrie will educate you on the way our body metabolizes foods, which foods to eat, and how often we should eat. She will also discuss goal setting, sugars, label reading, alcohol, whole grains and fiber, fat, sodium, and antioxidant rich foods.

Nutrition boot camp was designed by the Registered Dietitians at Evolution Nutrition. Carrie Gippo will facilitate the class. She has a bachelor's degree in nutrition and is currently a graduate student enrolled in the Nutrition Education program at Framingham State University, MA.

Pure Fit with Erica Morency

This 8-week program will help build your immune system and fight inflammation. Erica will keep you guessing each week with her challenging strength and cardio circuits. Join Erica for this 8-week program that will challenge your strength and cardiovascular fitness. She will educate you on how to read food labels, offering weekly fit tips, recipes and fitness homework. Get Fit to Win It with Bryna Brooks

Participants will undertake an 8-week program that will make you feel and look like an athlete. Each week Bryna will take you through an intense 60 minute group workout routine that will combine calisthenics and strength training with exercises used by athletic pros. These kinds of routines can help you lose weight and get you into the best shape of your life, enhancing speed, agility and strength. Along with a weekly group training session, which will help keep you accountable and motivated, it also includes weekly weigh ins, recipes, and diet/fitness tips. No need to be an athlete to train like an athlete. All fitness levels welcome. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

Total Fitness for Women with Stacia Abdow

Total Fitness for Women is an 8-week group-training program under the supervision of our certified personal trainer, Stacia Abdow. The program is for women of all fitness levels who have a desire to be the best they can possibly be. Learn how to make your workouts more effective with workouts tailored to your needs and goals. Accountability and support from your trainer and group will help you reach your goals. Stacia will provide each participant with written workouts to follow outside training times, nutrition guidance for pre and post workout meals, and measurements to keep your progress on track. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

Rock Your Resolution with Stacia Abdow

Stacia’s weight-loss challenge is an 8-week program to keep participants accountable to their New Year's Resolutions. The workout will be designed to be high intensity interval training. X-Training Plus with James Simmons

This 8-week program is built around the strength and cardiovascular conditioning aspect to building muscle, gaining strength and burning fat. A co-ed program for anyone looking to improve his or her overall fitness and to be pushed out of their comfort zone. Workouts will include many different types of equipment like kettle bells, plyometric boxes, sandbags, rowers, battle ropes and much more. Weekly fitness and nutrition tips will be provided. Woman of Steel with Walter Medeiros

Join this 8-week progressive strength-training program for women focusing on all aspects of fitness including: cardiovascular & muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition. Participants will enjoy the camaraderie of working with a group in a fun and encouraging atmosphere to achieve results. Workouts will consist of weight, balance and flexibility training with cardio intervals to focus on core strength. All fitness levels welcome. (min. 3 max. 6 participants)

Women's Self Defense Class with Kyle Juckett

This self-defense course is designed to introduce you to the basic principles to combating a male aggressor. It will give you an advantage, regardless of your opponents' size and strength. Weight Loss Clinic with Walter Medeiros

Participants will undertake a 8-week long program that will combine personalized dietary guidelines for each individual along with a weekly group training session which will help build comraderie amongst participants which will help you overcome many obstacles. Also included, weekly weigh ins followed by a “group therapy” session to ultimately lose as much weight safely as well as to allow for the greatest amount of success to keep the weight off. (min. 3 max. 12 participants)

Spin Yourself Thin with Sue Adams

This 8 week weight-loss program will include a 1/2 hour of weight training followed by a 1/2 hour private spin class. Each participant will receive a nutrition plan and counseling, along with weekly weigh-ins to record pounds and body fat loss. Sue will be available for any questions you may have 24/7. Body Comp Clinic with Craig Costa

Remember that “good sore” feeling? Remember the excitement in your potential when you first began to exercise? Recapture it this summer in Craig’s Body Comp Clinic. This is a 10-week program designed to motivate and educate you to get you into the best shape of your life. Improve your strength and cardiovascular conditioning, and look as good as ever. The focus of this program will be on losing fat, not just body weight. You will be taught how to make permanent changes in your life. Rock The Beach Fat Loss Challenge with Sue Adams

Time to get beach body ready! This 10-week program will include: personalized 1/2 hour one on one training sessions, nutrition counseling, weekly weigh-ins, body composition testing as well as a one hour group training per week. Boot camp style workouts will include the use of various types of cardio equipment along with weights and machines. All fitness levels are welcome. Members that Inspire Us


MJ Benevides has been a member of Bristol Total Fitness since 2011. He changes up his workout routine regularly to help him from getting bored. Since July 2015 he’s lost a total of 51 lbs. People ask what his “secret” is and MJ tells them “Diet and exercise are a combined 50% of being healthy; the other 50% is all decision. You either want it bad enough or you don’t, there is no gray area.” His favorite fitness quote is “What you see in the mirror is a reflection of the decisions you have made, if you don’t like what you see than you need to make better choices because no one is going to do it for you”. Congratulations MJ on your success so far!


Mary Tucker has been a member of Swansea Total Fitness since January of 2007. She attends the gym 6-7 days a week and tries to rotate her fitness routine from Total Body Ball to Step, Spin and weight training. Her favorite class is Erin’s Spin class on Sunday mornings in Seekonk. Mary also participates in Craig’s Power Hour and finds it's a good balance of weights and cardio. “It definitely stays with you for a few days; muscles that were neglected are now screaming!” She looks forward to participating in Pedal to End Cancer for the first time on March 6th. Congratulations Mary! You show true dedication! Keep up the good work!


Scott Nagy has been a member of Seekonk Total Fitness since July 2015 and has lost over 20 pounds with the guidance of his trainers Jenn Brown and Walter Medeiros. Combining training styles like functional, strength and boot camp style workouts has Scott back to his high school weight and feeling stronger than ever. He is a real estate agent with very little free time, so 5am workouts are the only option! Scott enjoys spending time with friends and family and having a great meal! Scott is thinking about doing a 5k this year, we know you can do it! Keep it up!


Sean Hennessey has been a member of Dartmouth Total Fitness since 2012. He attends the gym about five times a week. Sean's favorite quote is by Elliot Hulse “The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried.” Lifting weights has kept him in shape while serving in the US Marine Corps. Now Sean serves as a Trooper with the Massachusetts State Police. His health tip is “Have realistic goals and expectations, get a routine your body finds stimulating while increasing your heart rate. Most importantly eat healthy while staying consistent and motivated." Congratulations Sean!
